Our Mission

Help every veteran navigate the VA claims process — in the open, and within reach.

We build technology that helps veterans organize their evidence and understand how the VA will read their claim. We're committed to doing it transparently: the code is open for anyone to inspect, the pricing is set for accessibility, and the goal is to reach every veteran — whether you're separating today or you left service years ago and never knew help like this existed.

Open source

The code is on GitHub. You can read it. Your VSO can read it. The VA can read it. We're not asking you to trust us — we're asking you to verify. View on GitHub →

For every veteran

Built to run for every transitioning service member at separation. And to reach the veterans already out — many of them years or decades — who don't know support like this exists.

Accessible pricing

Free covers most of what most veterans need. Pro is $11.99/mo if you want our AI to do the heavy reading for you. Cost shouldn't stand between you and your claim.

Where the money goes

After the bills to run the tool, the majority of subscription revenue is donated to other tools that help veterans and to early childhood development organizations. What's left over supports my family. Built because it should exist, not to get anyone rich — I have a day job.

Private & HIPAA-compliant

Infrastructure is HIPAA-compliant and hosted on Google Cloud, encrypted in transit and at rest. You can delete any document — or your whole account — any time.

What it actually does

Five simple jobs — from raw records to a VSO-ready package you can share in one link.

Keep all your records in one place

Drop in your DD-214, medical records, buddy statements — anything. Everything stays organized in your private library and easy to find later.

See every condition you can claim for

We read your records and pull out every health condition the VA cares about — with the dates and details to back each one up.

Know what's missing before you file

For each condition, we show you exactly what evidence you still need. No surprises. No denials you didn't see coming.

Estimate your rating

See an estimated combined disability rating based on your conditions. We show the math the VA uses — and we show our work.

Hand it off with one secure link

Send your VSO, attorney, or claims rep a read-only link to everything. No printing. No mailing. No re-explaining your case from scratch.

Understand your claim. Keep your records. Stay in control.

VA Claim Path is an education and organization tool. Learn what's in your file, keep your records in one secure place, and share them with the people who help you file — your VSO or attorney.

What you get
  • Understand your claim — learn which conditions and evidence matter, in plain language
  • Keep your records in one secure, encrypted library
  • Open source — read every line of code that touches your data
  • Share a read-only link with your VSO or attorney, whenever you choose
  • Free to start — optional AI assist at $11.99/mo (or $119.99/yr) to help spot gaps

VA Claim Path is an educational tool, not legal advice or representation. Your VSO or attorney is still the right person to file and argue your claim — we just help you walk in organized and informed.

Built by a combat veteran with 15+ years in software — so other vets don't have to learn the VA like a lawyer just to get the support they've earned.

Five Steps to a Stronger Claim

From sign-in to sharing with your VSO — usually a single afternoon.

1

Sign in instantly

Google, Apple, your phone, or a one-tap email link. No password to remember and no long sign-up form.

2

Upload your evidence

Drop in PDFs, Word docs, and photos of paper records — up to 50 MB per file. Everything stays in your private encrypted library.

3

We read your records

Within a minute or two, you'll see the conditions, diagnoses, dates, and service events pulled from each document — ready for you to review and correct anything we got wrong.

4

See what's strong and what's missing

For each condition, we show what evidence backs it up, what's still missing, and what to chase next. Plain English, no acronyms.

5

Share with your VSO or attorney

One link. They see your documents, the extracted facts, and the gap analysis without you mailing folders or re-explaining the case.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything veterans typically ask before signing up.

Is this a replacement for a VSO or attorney?

No. A VSO can file your claim for free and represent you with the VA, and an attorney can represent you as well. We're the tool that helps you walk into that conversation organized — so they spend less time piecing your case together and more time advocating for you.

Why is the code open source?

Because we're handling your medical and military records, and you shouldn't have to take our word for how we handle them. The repo is at github.com/sobryan/va-claim-path-app. You, your VSO, the VA, or any veteran who codes can verify exactly what happens to your data.

Where does my $11.99 actually go?

After the bills to run the tool — hosting, storage, and research for enhancements — the majority of what we earn is donated to other tools that help veterans and to early childhood development organizations. What's left over supports my family.

Is this legal advice?

No. VA Claim Path is a tool to help you organize evidence and understand the rating criteria. Final filing decisions and representations should go through an accredited VSO or attorney.

What does the VA need to grant a claim?

Three things: a current diagnosis, something that happened during service (or an exposure, like burn pits), and a medical link between the two. Most denied claims are missing one of these. We show you which conditions have all three and which don't.

Can my VSO or attorney see my files?

Yes. You generate a read-only share link they can open without an account. Revoke access any time.

What happens to my documents?

Stored encrypted on Google Cloud. You can delete any document — or your whole account — at any time. We never share your data with third parties or sell it.

Does VA Claim Path file my claim for me?

No. You still file through VA.gov or your VSO. We help you walk in prepared with organized evidence and a clear gap analysis.

Will the AI get things wrong?

Sometimes. We surface every fact the AI extracted so you can correct it. Treat it as a fast first-pass reader, not a final word.

How does pricing work?

Pro is $11.99/mo or $119.99/year (2 months free). Cancel any time. Heavy AI users may hit a fair-use cap on AI analysis in a single month — your documents and prior analyses always remain available, and the cap resets at the start of the next month.

What about refunds?

7-day no-questions refund on the annual plan. Monthly is cancel-any-time and prorated to the next bill date.

With gratitude

This is dedicated to my support and my joy — God's grace, my family, my wife, my kids, our parents, and our community.

Thank you to the Vietnam Veterans who created the Vet Centers. I am very grateful for them.

Thank you to everyone, and every organization, that advocated for and pushed through the PACT Act.

And thank you to the individual veterans and the veteran community for making this information available to the rest of us.

Thank you.

Understand Your True Rating

VA combined-rating math is non-linear. A 50% rating plus a 30% rating doesn’t equal 80% — the VA uses a "whole person" calculation that considers your remaining efficiency.

Use the same formula the VA uses, before you file. See exactly how your conditions combine, what your rounded rating will be, and your estimated monthly compensation.
